Fashion in Film - Confessions of a Shopaholic

Here is a movie we can all probably relate to….Confessions of a Shopaholic!

The movie, based on the best selling books “Confessions of a Shopaholic” and “Shopaholic Takes Manhattan” by Sophie Kinsella, hits theatres this Friday, the 13th.

The romantic comedy, starring Isla Fisher as Rebecca Bloomwood, is based in the glamorous world of New York City, where she can’t help but feed her hopeless addiction to shopping, and incurs a sea of debt.

Living in the big city, the shopaholic dreams of working at her favorite fashion magazine, but in an ironic twist, ends up working as an advice columnist for a financial magazine, published by the same company.

Confessions of a Shopaholic is a perfect fashion fix for admirer’s of the outrageously unique styling of Emmy-award winning costume designer, Patricia Field. The stylist who has previously worked on Sex & The City, and The Devil Wears Prada, brings that over the top flare to the movie, that will make you want to step into some heels, and head out shopping!

"It's just a little eclectic mix of something cute, something designer. It was an opportunity for me to create a different look for people to see that they haven't really seen before. It's fashion-forward but an exaggerated for this extreme character who can't stop shopping." - Patricia Field on her work for Confessions of a Shopaholic.

So take this opportunity to grab your girlfriends and fellow fashionistas, for a fun girls night out at the movies this weekend! Enjoy!

Fab Find! Calvin Klein book...

The other day I was at Winners with Joanna, and we were looking for a wedding planner book for our friend Katie, who we are planning a wedding for. We never found what we were looking for… but I stumbled upon a fabulous 2$ purchase; the Calvin Klein American Women book by Bryan Adams!

The book was released in May of 2005 by Canadian musician and photographer Bryan Adams. He began photographing influential American women dressed in new and vintage Calvin Klein, which was shot mainly in New York and Los Angeles throughout 2004. American Women is a tribute to the beauty, strength and character of American women. Actors, Journalists, musicians, artists, businesswomen, athletes, and philanthropists are included with one simple connection: being American women who are known for excelling in their field. The stunning photographs include Hilary Clinton, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, Sarah Jessica Parker, Scarlet Johannson, Venus and Serena Williams, Sheryl Crow, Pink, Natalie Cole, Lindsay Lohan and Debbie Harry, among many others. All the proceeds from "American Women” benefited the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in support of their ongoing breast cancer research programs.

Bryan Adam’s photography is simply stunning in this book. All the women are dressed in Calvin Klein outfits but the main focus isn’t fashion, it’s about the American women’s inner beauty and strength. I have added just a few of the 92 photographs which were taken in black and white.
I have recently checked online on Chapters.com for the original price of this amazing book, and my findings were astonishing! This book originally sold for $60.00 and is now listed as rare and some people are asking anywhere from $58.00 to $140.00 for it!! Don’t forget I paid… $2.00! I am very proud of my fab find!
