Annoucement: Spread the Net and make a difference!

I saw this commercial on TV today and it really made me think…
Did you know that a 10$ donation could potentially save a few children and kept them protected from malaria for up to five years!? I didn’t.

Spread the Net is an organization that raises funds so that Unicef can procure and distribute bed nets at no cost to the children and families receiving them.

For us here in Canada, mosquitoes make us think of summer and itching. But unfortunately it’s not the same for millions of people around the world. Mosquitoes are deadly and carry a disease responsible for one million deaths every year. Imagine having to think of that every time you step outside in your cute short shorts this summer?

Some types of mosquitoes, found in many countries transmit a one cell parasite called Plasmodium which causes malaria. Countries in sub-Saharan Africa are constantly suffering from malaria and about 90% of cases result in fatality. Children, with their small bodies and immature immune systems, are particularly vulnerable to severe illness and death. In fact, every 30 seconds a child dies of malaria.

Did you know Malaria is the single biggest killer of African children under the age of five? Malaria hits about one in five children in Africa, which ultimately results in their death.
You’re probably asking your self… ‘Well how can I help?’

Well Malaria-carrying mosquitoes usually strike at night, between 10pm and 4am and sleeping under an insecticide-treated bed net has been shown to reduce malaria transmission by at least 50 per cent and the mortality of children under five by up to 25 per cent.

A simple solution: 1 Net. 10 Bucks. Save Lives.

10 bucks can buy you a couple of cappuccinos or a bed net to protect an African child for up to 5 years.

Here are some ways you can Spread the Net and get these children some help:
It's all about networking. Tell your family, your friends, your school, your neighbors. Tell EVERYONE about SPREAD THE NET.ORG.

You can send an eCard to one of your friends, print a donation card for a friend, join the Spread the Net Facebook group and invite your friends, post a banner on your site or Blog about it… like us!

You may think this has nothing to do with fashion... but fashion is total living... and its definitely fashionable to care about the world around us!
